Talia Castro-Pozo returns to Broadway Boulevard to lead free lessons and dance parties.
Free salsa lessons are coming to Broadway Boulevard this summer, as 34th Street Partnership and Talia Castro-Pozo team up to offer lessons, followed by social dance parties, on Thursday evenings beginning June 30.
Salsa dancers of all skill levels are invited, and they’ll be in good hands as Ms. Castro-Pozo is one of New York City’s most popular and successful salsa teachers. She has worked with us many times, most recently last summer when she hosted Dance34: Broadway on the Boulevard, during which Broadway dancers from shows like MAMMA MIA! and On Your Feet joined her to teach moves from their respective shows. For the On Your Feet session last August, 60 people came out to learn the moves, enticing almost 150 others to join in on the dance party following the lesson.
This year’s salsa-focused sessions promise to bring back this sizzle to warm summer evenings in Midtown. Salsa meets at 6pm each Thursday from June 30 through August 4. The program includes a 1-hour dance lesson, followed by an hour of dance party when participants can show off and practice their new skills. Everyone’s welcome to take lessons, join the dance party, or take part in both.
Keep your eyes peeled to MidCity News for more Dance34: Salsa news coming to 34th Street, as there are rumors that Ms. Castro-Pozo will be bringing her talents westward to Plaza33 when it returns later this summer.
