Fresh produce, ready-to-eat fare, flowers, and more available at Broadway French Market, opening for the season on May 4 at Broadway Boulevard.
Just in time for Mother’s Day, Broadway French Market has returned to Broadway Boulevard, offering fresh produce and meats, prepared foods, flowers, and more. Operated by Bensidoun USA, Midtown’s only open-air market can be easily spotted by the attractive green tents introduced last year by 34th Street Partnership.
This is the fourth year for the French Market, and shoppers will once again have up to 18 stalls to peruse for ready-to-eat treats or fresh ingredients to take home and prepare for dinner. The vendors rotate, so the market is a bit different each week.
This year we welcome back Sarah & Nancy’s Farm (produce) and Meredith’s Bread (all natural baked goods including a complete line of gluten-free selections), prepared food favorites Anthis Greek Food and Luzzo’s Pizza, and on Fridays, fresh seafood at Conte’s Fish. Every week through July, aficionados of French baking can visit the French Corner, where they can find croissants, pains au chocolat, quiches, canelés, and crepes prepared by Canelé by Céline & La Mulatresse. There will also be some intriguing newcomers, as we’re always looking for new vendors to add to the lineup. If you are interested in participating or learning more, email us here.
Opening week will have a Mother’s Day theme, featuring vendors including Randy’s Orchids, Suds and Lites (natural handmade soap and candles), Purple Lantern Studio (illustrations and stationery by artist Rayna Sassano), and a booth offering handmade jewelry. There will also be a craft station where visitors can create Folded Paper Flowers.
You can get a leg up on summer entertaining by attending “A Taste of Summer with Gourmet Home Cooking by Tanya Tracy” on May 4, May 11, June 1, and June 8. Ms. Tracy will perform on-site demos in the preparation and presentation of summer goodies like cheese, dips, chutney, artisanal breads, crackers, green salads, and pasta salads.
Broadway French Market is located at the Broadway Boulevard pedestrian plaza between 35th and 36th Streets, and is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 11am-6pm, beginning May 4.
