Free hula hoop classes great for fun or fitness.
Although hula hooping may look easy, it takes a bit of skill to pull off. Luckily for you, Hoop34 returns to Broadway Boulevard next week. 34th Street Partnership introduced the classes to 34th Street last year after a five-year hiatus and it was a big hit, so we’re excited to launch another season.
Classes are conducted by Sheryl Wilson of Fitnotic, and are open to anyone who wants to join, whether you’re a hula hoop novice or pro. Ms. Wilson is a certified group instructor on hoop dancing and her expertise and enthusiasm will have you shaking it like a pro in no time. Sessions are timed perfectly for office workers wanting to let loose after nine hours at a desk.
Hula hooping is more than just an enjoyable activity, it’s also great exercise. Come for a few minutes of fun, or stay for the full hour to really get your abs working hard. Classes meet at Broadway Boulevard, 6pm-7pm, on Mondays from June 13 through August 15 (no class on July 4). All equipment is provided, including a limited number of heavier, beginner hoops, as well as toddler-sized hoops for younger participants.
