Reports announce the location will open this fall.
34th Street received good news on the retail front last week with reports that Target has signed a lease to occupy 43,000 square feet of retail space at 112 West 34th Street, between Seventh Avenue and Broadway. Joining Target at the site will be Sephora and Foot Locker, bringing the total occupancy to 92,000 square feet of retail space.
When the location opens in October, the West 34th Street entrance across from Macy’s will greet visitors with Target fashions, according to company officials. A second entrance on West 33rd Street will offer grab-and-go food, as well as a CVS pharmacy, reports the New York Post.
“Target joins Sephora and Foot Locker at the best location on the 34th Street retail corridor, which spans from the Empire State Building to Seventh Avenue,” said Thomas P. Durels, a vice president at Empire State Realty Trust, Target’s new landlord on 34th Street.
Target’s mix of apparel, housewares, and groceries has made it a popular staple in malls across America, and its arrival on 34th Street is a testament to the consistent improvements made to the retail corridor since the inception of the 34th Street Partnership. “Retailers such as Target, office businesses, and the public have responded enthusiastically to these improvements, which have helped create a robust shopping environment,” the Partnership said in a statement, as reported in amNY.
