Renovation of the city's best public restrooms grabbed worldwide attention.
Clean and attractive, Bryant Park’s free public restrooms have been famous for 25 years now. But when we unveiled the facilities after our latest renovations, we were pleasantly surprised by the attention they received.
With imported floor and wall tiles, coffered ceilings, crown moldings, all-weather temperature controls, energy-saving LED lighting, self-flushing toilets with continuously changing seat covers, hands-free faucets, and, of course, fresh flowers and classical music, we think they are simply the finest public restrooms in the country. They offer the luxury of restrooms found at a five-star hotel, while presenting users with none of the anxiety of deciding whether or not to go in.
The coverage still continues, but so far we’ve seen pieces from local outlets (Time Out NY, New York Post, NY1, WCBS2, WABC7, WPIX-TV), regional (the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, WBBH-TV, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Herald, San Antonio Express-News, Daily Journal of Commerce), national sites (TIME, U.S. News and World Report, Refinery29), and from around the globe (New Zealand Herald, News India Times,Tio).
We are pleased to see this story get such wide play. If the great publicity leads to even one additional clean public restroom out there, we’ll be even more pleased.
