Learn the basics of watercolor, urban sketching, and drawing from Painters in Residence.
Anne Kullaf, a 2014 Painter in Residence, gets things started with workshops devoted to watercolor on three consecutive days beginning Tuesday, August 1. A contemporary painter who works in a variety of media, Ms. Kullaf will concentrate on watercolor, a medium that is perfect for capturing the flowers and plants that make the park an oasis. Participants will be given the tools to place emphasis on light, shadow and form in creating an atmospheric, impressionistic result.
The following week, Marilyn Rose conducts lessons in urban sketching on three consecutive days beginning August 8, and the series winds up with three lessons in drawing led by Yuka Imata beginning August 15.
All workshops meet at 10am–12pm at the Art Cart, located on the Fifth Avenue Terrace, and are limited to 10-12 participants and limited materials are provided. Classes are cumulative, so please only sign up if you are available to go to all three sessions in the art form of your choice. You can preregister here to secure your spot.
