Bryant Park Presents Intersect returns for a two-day run this Friday and Saturday, presenting 11 incredible artists and ensembles.
It doesn’t get better for aficionados of jazz and classical music: two days filled with exquisite music, presented al fresco, free of charge and open to all. Bryant Park Presents Intersect comes to the Bryant Park Stage next week, offering a rare opportunity to experience a program filled with some of the most sophisticated music being created today.
The festival features standards and new works, including commissions and world premieres, and is produced with Chamber Music America and curated by composer and saxophonist Patrick Zimmerli. Food and drink curated by Hester Street Fair is available for purchase on both evenings, along with beer and wine as well. The Park Shop & Info tent will also be there handing out blankets to borrow throughout the event.
Each event focuses on a prominent composer who has created significant classical and jazz works. The opener, on Friday, August 4, includes performances by four ensembles and celebrates the music of Grammy-winning jazz pianist Billy Childs, who also appears with his quartet. On Saturday, we present seven full hours of dynamic classical works, jazz, and hip hop in a musical exploration of Derek Bermel, the multi-award-winning composer and clarinetist.
