Spanish soccer giant showcases new design using human mosaic on the Lawn.
FC Barcelona, one of the most storied clubs in international soccer, is currently touring the U.S. for a series of appearances in the International Champions Cup. Prior to its opener at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, July 22, the club held a rally at Bryant Park. After the team’s executive leadership, accompanied by legendary striker Thierry Henry, greeted supporters, the team set a world record.
At noon, 3,330 Barcelona fans gathered on the Lawn and, in unison, held up colored sheets of paper to form a giant mosaic revealing the newest version of the team’s famous “Blaugrana” jersey. It was an impressive sight, as the photo shows. You can hear more about the event at NY1.
The club was pleased with the reception and posted this story on its website. Barça even won its tournament opener later that evening, defeating Italian club Juventus 2-1.
