Our annual Midtown hoedown is less than a month away.
As fall looms in the distance, fans of the biggest square dance in the city might want to take notice and save the date, because Bryant Park Square Dance is coming up in just four weeks.
This year’s event is scheduled for 5pm–10pm on Friday, September 22. Square Dance is one of the city’s biggest fall events, and includes live music, dancing, countrified lawn activities (including trick-roping lessons) and tasty grub and beverages curated by Hester Street Fair.
Dave Harvey of NYC Barn Dance returns as the featured caller, and the popular mechanical bull will test your reflexes and endurance, courtesy of Southwest Airlines. While you’re waiting for your turn at the bull, you can hang your hat at the rustic Southwest Airlines Lounge and have a drink. Participants will also walk away with a fantastic free souvenir: a Bryant Park Square Dance cowboy hat.
The event is free and open to all, and no partner or experience is necessary. You’ll meet loads of people, and we’ll teach you the steps. We also offer bag check, so you can keep your hands free to dance and enjoy all the activities. We invite everyone to dust off that festive country attire and come on down!
