New steakhouse opens tonight in former bank vault at the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel.
|Butcher & Banker|
The transformation of the venerable Wyndham New Yorker Hotel has been made complete with the opening of Butcher & Banker, a new steakhouse and cocktail bar. Located in the vault of the Manufacturers Trust bank that was previously at the site, Butcher & Banker presents New Yorkers with a modern American “steakeasy” under the culinary leadership of Executive Chef Scott Campbell.
The bank vault has been exquisitely restored to evoke the glamor of the 1930’s, while paying homage to the Art Deco restoration of the hotel above. The menu features aged USDA prime Black Angus beef with choices like coulotte and rib cap steaks and a number of other cuts, not just beef, on the bone. Locally-sourced seafood and a large selection of seasonal vegetables round-out the offerings. There is also a curated, affordable wine list, and the bar offers a wide array of cocktails.
Butcher & Banker is located at 481 Eighth Avenue, on the vault level of the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel. Dinner is served daily, 4:30pm–10:30pm, and the bar menu is available until 12am.
