Kids Food Festival, March 2013

The last weekend of the 2013-2014 Bank of America Winter Village season is coming up, and Manhattan’s only free admission skating rink will end on a tasteful note by hosting the 2014 NYC Kids Food Festival. Presented by The Creative Kitchen, in collaboration with the James Beard Foundation and Upsilon Ventures, and in support of charity partner Alliance for a Healthier Generation, the Kids Food Festival aims to educate families about making balanced food choices through fun and flavorful activities.

The festival includes hands-on cooking classes, food demonstrations, live entertainment, food sampling, giveaways, and the Balanced Plate Scavenger Hunt for kids. All the activities and demonstrations are geared towards instilling in children the benefits of healthful, balanced eating habits, and avoiding childhood obesity. General admission is free and open to everyone.

The event will stretch out over two days, Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2, with activities from 10:00am – 4:00pm on both days.

At the James Beard Future Foodies Pavilion, located on the upper floor of Celsius, celebrity chefs will offer hands-on cooking classes. You must purchase tickets for these classes. At the Kids Food Festival Main Stage on the park’s Upper Terrace, there will be live musical performances, fitness workshops, and entertainment and cooking demonstrations, all free and open to the public. The main stage entertainment will be mixed and mastered by Baby Loves Disco.

Visit Kids Food Festival on the web for a full schedule of events at both venues, and to purchase tickets for events at the James Beard Future Foodies Pavilion.

This will be the third straight year that Bryant Park has hosted this fun and valuable event, and we can’t think of a better way to close out another successful season of free ice-skating at Manhattan’s most beautiful park. We invite all parents to bring their kids to the park, take one last spin at The Rink at Bank of America Winter Village, and learn about healthful food and lifestyle choices.
