Through this long and cold winter, poetry fans have been warmed by the free Word for Word Winter Poetry Series. Sessions are held indoors at Kinokuniya Bookstore, located at 1073 Avenue of the Americas.
The next event will be held on Tuesday, March 18 as the Bryant Park Reading Room welcomes Michael Broder, Julie Enszer, and Cheryl Clarke for readings beginning at 6:00pm. The final Word for Word Winter Poetry session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, 6:30pm, as the Reading Room and Tightrope Press welcome Jan Conn, Nyla Matuk, Jim Nason, and Leanne Averbach to Kinokuniya, which is located at 1073 Avenue of the Americas, just across the street from the park.
The launch of Bryant Park’s open-air Reading Room is just around the corner. Poem in Your Pocket Day comes the week after the winter series ends, on Thursday, April 24. This will mark the twelfth straight year that Poem in Your Pocket Day kicks off the Word for Word Poetry season at Bryant Park Reading Room. This epic event runs from 11:00am-2:00pm, and everyone is welcome to come and see poets, famous and fledgling, read their work.
We’re still working out the details, but once again the heart of the program will be Open Mic, when students from NYC's elementary, intermediate and high schools will have the opportunity to read their latest poems. If you are 18 or under, and a student at a NYC school, you may register for our Poem in Your Pocket Open Mic. Please email email@example.com if you are interested in participating. As we anticipate the new season at the Reading Room, we wish to express our appreciation to our sponsor, HBSC Bank, which has been on board since the beginning.
