Report Unsightly Newsboxes

Help clean up our sidewalks.

One of 34th Street Partnership’s long-going efforts has been to reduce the number of unsightly, poorly maintained individual newsboxes that deface our sidewalks and create obstructions for pedestrians. What frustrates us most is that we have created an excellent solution to the problem: our streamlined multi-publication newsboxes provide an attractive outlet for publications, and we assiduously court publishers to use them.

Unfortunately, the problem persists. Here’s where you can help. When you spot an individual newsbox that you believe has been neglected, to the point where it has become an eyesore, please report it. We have been told by NYC Department of Transportation that one of the keys to action on this issue is measurable discontent voiced by citizens. So please help us and the neighborhood out by calling 311 when you spot one of these hazards, and tell the operator the location and the publication.

Choosing to place your publication in a newsbox designed and maintained by 34th Street Partnership is a great idea. Your logo will be prominently displayed, your materials will remain clean and dry, and you won’t have to worry about maintenance because we take it seriously. If you are interested in placing your publication in our custom newsboxes, please contact Dave Martin at 917-438-5153.
