Lessons in Salsa, Tango, and Swing, plus live bands at six social dance parties in May.
An exciting new program joins Bryant Park’s lineup next month when Dancing in Bryant Park brings six dance parties, hosted and produced by Talia Castro-Pozo of Sunset Salsa fame, to the park’s Fountain Terrace.
Each evening begins with an hour-long free dance lesson, followed by 90 minutes of live music for everyone to enjoy and dance to, whether they started the night with a lesson or not. The lineup of events has something for almost every interest, with sessions in Salsa, Brazilian, Argentine Tango, Swing, Bachata, and Motown scheduled.
Dancing in Bryant Park kicks off on Wednesday, May 7, with Salsa. Talia Castro-Pozo and Sekou McMiller get the evening started with a salsa lesson at 6:00pm. Then Mitch Frohman and the Bronx Horns Mambo Orchestra take the stage at 7:00pm to play authentic Latin music that will get everyone moving and grooving.
That’s just the first of six dance parties to be held on consecutive Wednesdays. Each event begins with lessons by instructors skilled in that evening’s dance genre. Then an incredible band plays to keep you moving into the night. Dancing outdoors is always a blast, so don’t miss this chance to strut your stuff at Manhattan’s Town Square.
