Urban fishermen can learn to cast their lines just as gracefully as those guys on the Outdoor Channel by attending free Fly Fishing classes. Expert instructors from Orvis, the outdoor-wear company, give lessons on fly casting as well as outfit rigging.
Bryant Park Fly Fishing meets on Saturdays, 10:00am-12:00pm, at the Fifth Avenue Terrace at 41st Street in front of the New York Public Library. The sessions will be held on consecutive Saturdays through June 14, but there will also be a special mid-summer session on July 19. Everyone is welcome to attend, but class spaces are first come, first serve, so call 212-827-0698 to reserve your spot.
