Spend your evenings outdoors with our free dance and exercise classes. Next week, Paul Pellicoro’s DanceSport brings Dance34 to Broadway Boulevard. Dance34 includes instruction in three dance styles, Salsa, Swing, and Zumba, all taught by expert instructors from DanceSport.
On Monday, May 5, it’s Zumba, combining Latin and pop music with targeted sculpting movements for a full body workout. This style of dance has popped up at gyms and studios across the country, because it’s fun and it works! Zumba classes return every other Monday through August 25, from 5:00 - 6:00pm, with fan-favorite instructor Wilson.
Swing will be taught on alternating Mondays, beginning on Monday, May 12. The sessions on June 16, July 14, and August 11 will include live music by Jessie Bunting and the Hot Shim Sham Orchestra, so participants can jump and jive to live tunes. Instructor Milo will break down the steps, so all levels of dancers can participate. Swing will be held from 5:00 – 6:00pm, and 5:00 - 6:30pm on the days when the band plays.
Then on Tuesdays, beginning May 6, it’s time for Salsa fans to join in the fun! DanceSport’s Salsa expert, Lauren, helps you master traditional Salsa steps in a one-hour class. These sessions continue each Tuesday through August 26, from 5:30 – 6:30pm.
Each Dance34 class is conducted on Broadway Boulevard between 34th and 35th Streets and is free and open to the public, regardless of skill level. You can always continue dancing late into the night by visiting the DanceSport studio, conveniently located at 22 West 34th Street.
