Accordionists Bring Global Beat to Park

Presentation of over 60 musicians on Tuesday evenings, May - July.

One of the hits at Bryant Park last summer was the debut season of Accordions Around the World. We placed highly skilled accordionists around the park so that visitors could enjoy multiple genres of music just by taking a stroll. We’re bringing it back beginning next Tuesday, May 6, and adding different high energy bands that include an accordion, of course, each week.

The wonderful thing about accordion music is its cross-cultural ubiquity. There are strong accordion traditions everywhere, from France to Colombia, from the Balkans to the Bayou. We are including as many as we can, presenting over 60 accordionists, as well as artists who play harmoniums, concertinas, and bandoneons.

This year’s program, produced in collaboration with Ariana’s List, includes an hour of accordionists spaced throughout the park from 5:00-6:00pm each week, followed by a band with an infectious, global beat on the Fountain Terrace from 6:00-7:15pm.

Accordions Around the World is at the park each Tuesday from May 6 through July 29. Come and see what all the excitement is about!
