Piano in Bryant Park, the popular lunchtime series featuring talented and engaging interpreters of ragtime and Dixieland jazz piano, returns for its eleventh season beginning Monday, May 12 and continues each weekday through Friday, October 10. The performances are held on the Upper Terrace, and run from 12:30 - 2:30pm. The series is produced in partnership with Jazz Center of New York, Music Performance Trust Fund, Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians, and Sam Ash Music.
Todd Robbins, longtime Piano in Bryant Park favorite, kicks off the series with a week of performances featuring ragtime and classic Tin Pan Alley. This year we also welcome back Roy Eaton, whose incredible career includes an appearance at Carnegie Hall in 1937, a Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Award in 1950, and a host of albums. Daryl Sherman, Junior Mance, Victor Lin, Ayako Shirasaki and Terry Waldo (protégé of the great Eubie Blake) will also be back and, continuing a great tradition, Frank Owens will celebrate his birthday by beginning a week of performances on September 1.
