The Bryant Park Painter in Residence Program is open to all U.S. artists 18 years or older. Successful applicants will be commissioned to work outdoors at Bryant Park, creating representational images that will comprise a visual record of the park. Work samples submitted for consideration must have been completed in the last two years.
Four painters will be selected for the program, each receiving a stipend. The artists will take two-week turns working in the fresh air at Bryant Park, the first stint beginning on Monday, August 4, and the next three beginning consecutively on August 18, September 1, and September 15.
The Painter in Residence Program has been a great success. Artists that participated the first year were Walter Lynn Mosley, Andrea Arroyo, Patti Mollica, and Yuka Imata. Last year, we welcomed Frank Hanavan, Luis Mijangos, Marilyn Rose, and Bruno Nadalin. Together, these artists produced a treasure trove of paintings, drawings, and watercolors depicting our beautiful park.
The closing date for applications is June 30, 2014, and awards will be announced July 25, 2014. For more information about the program, please visit our website. You can also email requests for application forms to firstname.lastname@example.org.
