Learn the art of Capoeira with Professor Tiba from Capoeira Luanda.
This week began a new era for 34th Street Partnership’s exercise classes at Broadway Boulevard, as Capoeira34 debuted on Wednesday, June 18. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form combining dance, martial arts, and acrobatics that has taken the world by storm. It’s now practiced in more than 100 countries, and we are pleased to welcome the very accomplished Professor Tiba of Capoeira Luanda and Alvin Ailey School to Midtown.
16 participants joined the first class of the season, exercising every muscle in the body and having a blast interacting with other capoeiristas. View this YouTube video to get a taste of what it’s all about.
Capoeira34 meets on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30pm, on Broadway Boulevard between 34th and 35th Streets. It’s free and open to all. Just remember to wear appropriate clothing and shoes. The season continues through September 17.
