We've invited 25 accordionists to perform on July 29 for the program's grand finale.
The second season of Accordions Around the World in Bryant Park has been a great success. Last year’s smash series picked up right where it left off, presenting talented, highly skilled accordionists placed throughout the park so that visitors can enjoy multiple genres of music just by taking a stroll.
There are accordion traditions in many parts of the world, and we’ve tried to bring as many as possible to Bryant Park. The variety has been quite impressive. Visitors have heard music from the Balkans, Brazil, France (including gypsy, chanson, and musette), Japan (with a Jewish slant!), Colombia, England, Ireland, India, Louisiana and more, with bandoneons, harmoniums, and concertinas added for good measure.
This year’s program, produced in collaboration with Ariana’s List, has featured an hour of individual accordion performances, followed by a concert by a band with an infectious, global beat on the Fountain Terrace.
This delightful series winds up its second season July 29. For the final session, we’ve invited 25 accordionists, many of whom have already appeared here this season, to perform for two hours at locations throughout the park. The Accordions Around the World finale performers include Papa Bavarian, Albert Behar, Matt Dallow, Melissa Elledge, John Sherman, and many more.
