As Broadway Singers Depart, Enter the Bard

Thursday sees season-ender for Broadway in Bryant Park, along with return of Bryant Park Shakespeare.

With the season’s relatively mild weather and a dynamite lineup of performers from hit musicals, Broadway in Bryant Park presented by 106.7 LiteFM has drawn tremendous crowds this summer. On each Thursday during the series, we’ve counted more than 5,500 people at the park at 1:00pm, including 7,207 on Broadway in Bryant Park’s debut day, July 10.

Alas, there’s only one more chance to catch this summer classic. For the finale on Thursday, August 14, Delilah from LiteFM welcomes the casts from Matilda, On the Town, Mamma Mia!, and MOTOWN The Musical. The show begins at 12:30pm and is performed on the Bryant Park stage at the west end of the lawn. Pull up a chair on the lawn and enjoy.

Later that very evening, the theatre theme continues at Bryant Park as the second installment of Bryant Park Shakespeare makes its debut. Earlier this summer, The Drilling Company premiered Hamlet and received rave reviews, including from the New York Times.

Starting Thursday the 14th, Boomerang Theatre Company presents the Bard’s comedy Love’s Labour’s Lost. We’re in good hands again: Boomerang is a seasoned veteran of open-air Shakespeare performances in Central Park. Cailín Heffernan directs the fast-paced comedy, which is performed next to the steps of the Upper Terrace each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 7:00-9:00pm, through August 30.
