Live music and concerts screened from Colorado's famous music venue drew in fans.
Southwest Porch at Bryant Park has had quite a year so far. Hardy sports fans attended a Super Bowl party and watched live Olympic telecasts in February. Oenophiles enjoyed a Taste of Napa in May, courtesy of Southwest Airlines, and decidedly international gatherings of soccer fanatics cheered on their favorite World Cup teams in June and July.
In mid-August, the focus has been on music. The Porch hosted two live jazz performances by Talisman, as well as a set by the John Butler Trio. Porch visitors also enjoyed five screenings of concerts at Red Rocks, one of America’s truly iconic music venues, as part of the ‘Denver in NYC: Live from Red Rocks Concerts’ series. A special food and drink combo was offered during the event, offering half-price homemade guacamole and chips with the purchase of a pint of one of Colorado’s finest brews, Mama’s Little Yella Pils.
Swing by to continue enjoying the Porch’s comfortable rockers, swings, and Adirondack chairs. The sips ‘n snacks are terrific, but remember, no purchase is necessary to enjoy the Porch or any of its programming.
By the way, September is just around the corner, and that means it is just about time for Bryant Park Square Dance. Last year’s events drew tremendous crowds, so mark your calendars for September 19-21, when the Midtown hoedown returns for two evening sessions and one on Sunday afternoon. There’ll be a professional caller, live music, country fare at Southwest Porch, and more.
Music series ends its sixth season on August 27.
