Dazzling display welcomes visitors.
Bryant Park’s Director of Horticulture Maureen Hackett, as always, planned well for late summer. Check out this entry from the Bryant Park Blog for great photos of various horticultural elements placed throughout the park.
Of particular note this season is the spectacular display of flowers adjacent to the steps at the Avenue of the Americas entrance to the park. A stunning mix of colors, the display includes Petunia surfinia bubblegum, Petunia surfinia true blue carpet, blue Plumbago capensis, Salvia farinacea Victoria blue, and Colocasia illustrous.
This is a real visual treat, reminiscent of the flower treatment on the steps at La Madeleine in Paris. While the photos on the blog are excellent, the best way to enjoy Ms. Hackett’s work, of course, is to come to the park to see it live and up close.
Peak season has passed at Bryant Park, but there is still plenty to do at Manhattan's Town Square. Piano in Bryant Park, Word for Word Poetry, Yoga, Tai Chi, and more continue in September.
Stars made special appearances in the park throughout the summer season.
