Family-owned business is the go-to spot for camera repairs.
If you need to get your camera, smartphone, or tablet repaired, there’s a gem next to the 34th Street District where you can get the job done. Phototech, New York City’s only independent camera repair shop, has provided excellent service with a personal touch to Midtown denizens since 1958.
A longtime fixture on 34th Street across from B&H Camera, the family-owned business also operated a second store on 34th Street, Chrysler Camera Repair, for ten years. The stores are now joined under one roof at 360 West 36th Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues.
Phototech is the only authorized Sony repair center in the country. It is also a center for Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji, and other major brands. The shop repairs cracked phone and tablet screens, including iPhone, Blackberry, and Android, and can fix most international models. The technicians work quickly – turnaround time is generally 24-48 hours - and the one-year warranty for full repairs is the longest in the business.
Phototech also gives discounts to students, NYPD and FDNY personnel, and paramedics. Tricia Lewis, Fashion Herald blogger, recently visited the shop and filed this report.
